John Jackson

John Jacob Jackson age 88 of Thomasville, AL died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at his home. He was born July 3, 1924 in Thomasville, AL. Mr. Jackson was the owner of Jackson Grocery Store. He was a member of the Thomasville Baptist Church and member of the Fishers of Men Sunday School Class. In 2006 he received The William Booth Statue Award for his years of service to the Salvation Army. He was a member of the Thomasville City Council and the Thomasville City School Board. Mr. Jackson will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Merle Jackson of Thomasville, AL; 2 daughters, Cheryl (Grady) Bedwell of Jackson, AL; & Beryl Anderson of Birmingham, AL; 5 grandchildren, Don (Alaina) Anderson of Montgomery, AL; Donna (Richard) Parrish of Madison, AL; Brooke (Hampton) Smith of Mobile, AL; Lesley (Michael) Lightcap of Spanish Fort, AL; Elizabeth (Chris) Bailey of Mobile, AL; 5 great grandchildren, Jackson & Kennedy Smith, Anna Catherine Lightcap, Caroline Anderson, & Mary Pierson Bailey.

Visitation will be held at Thomasville Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am service time with Rev. Ty Parten and Dr. James Best officiating. Burial will be at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville, AL.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Thomasville Baptist Church or The Salvation Army.
