James Hudgens IV

James “Jimmy” Lafayette Hudgens IV was taken from us in Selma on Saturday, March 14. Jimmy was born Jan. 28, 1987, in Demopolis where he was instantly loved. He graduated from Demopolis High School in 2005 and continued his education at Auburn University. He was employed by Hudgens Insurance in Demopolis and spent his spare time playing music, hunting, listening to records and spending time with his family. He loved turkey hunting, the Auburn Tigers, karaoke, and his wife/longtime love, Melissa Hudgens. Though his life was short, he lived out loud, always bringing light, love, and infectious laughter to anyone who encountered his epic presence. He leaves behind his wife of one year, Melissa Hudgens; his parents, James Hudgens III and Kay Hudgens; his older sister, Katie Moon; his younger brother, Walter Hudgens; his grandparents, James Hudgens, Jr., and Bennie Hudgens; his aunt and uncle, Wayne and Becky Guy; aunt and uncle, Tim and Susan Guy; uncle, Dick Hudgens; and a host of friends. Jimmy’s life will be celebrated with a visitation at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at First United Methodist Church in Demopolis, followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. at the same location with the Rev. Art Luckie and the Rev. David Willis officiating, Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Reverence of his beautiful life will continue with an interment at Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis. Pallbearers will be Walter Hudgens, Ryan Moon, Jacob Kerby, Clarke Kerby, Jacob Smelley, Elliott Glass, Kurt Krusmark, Rob Davis, Thomas McFaden and James Cole. The Hudgens family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Demopolis or a charity of the donor’s choice.
