Inter-College panel of UWA faculty to discuss pros and cons of technology

The University of West Alabama will host an inter-college panel discussion on the positive and negative impacts of technology on Wednesday, May 1. The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Brock Y Hall on the UWA campus.

Faculty from four UWA colleges will present views from their respective fields of study. Through a panel discussion, the researchers will explore the pros and cons of a technology driven society.

Dr. Jan Miller, assistant professor and chair of the department of instructional leadership and support, will present “Technology in Education: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.” Dr. Joy Cauthron, associate professor of behavioral sciences, will present “Changing Your Mind? Technology and the Altered Landscape of Human Cognition.”

Dr. Wayne Bedford, professor and associate dean of the college of business, will present “Robots: Impact of Technology on Business and Technology.” Dr. Lee Stanton, assistant professor of biological and environmental sciences will present “Frog in a Well: The Arduous Relationship Between Science and Technology.”
