Hannah drives in three runs to power Demopolis past Thomasville

After an early 2-0 deficit, Demopolis scratched together just enough offense to overcome Thomasville 3-2 Monday.

Alexandria Newberry singled in Haven Collins to put Thomasville up 1-0 in the top of the first inning. Avery Dement then homered to left to move the lead to 2-0.

Demopolis got off the deck in the bottom of the third. Abby Grace Cameron singled with one out. Kendall Hannah then deposited a pitch beyond the center field fence for a two-run homer to tie the game.

The game maintained its status quo until the bottom of the fifth. Napoleon Roberson was hit by a pitch to open the inning. She moved up to third on a Cameron single. Hannah then hit a sacrifice fly to center to plate Roberson for the go-ahead run.

That proved to be enough for Natalie Tatum, who slammed the door for the win. She struck out seven batters and scattered four hits and a walk over seven innings.

Demopolis (18-10) travels to Greensboro Tuesday before hosting Dallas County and West Blocton Thursday.
