Hale County star signs with UWA hoops

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Kaddell Perry, a point guard from Hale County High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his basketball career at the University of West Alabama.
Perry comes to Livingston decorated in athletic and academic achievement, grabbing a second-team All-State nod at the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 4A level just before being named Hale County’s 2017 Salutatorian and an AHSAA leadership program inductee.
“(We) got a steal when we signed Kaddell Perry,” UWA head coach Allen Sharpe said. “He is a state champion and state tournament MVP. He is a first class young man that comes from a great family.
“Kaddell is a perfect example of the term student athlete. We expect him to have a great career at UWA and he should compete for playing time immediately.”
An Area All-Tournament and Regional All-Tournament selection, Perry was named the Most Valuable Player of the Class 4A State Tournament, leading the Wildcats to the first AHSAA State Title in school history after defeating Monroe County 67-56 on March 3.
In the title game, Perry posted 31 points, going nine-of-18 from the floor and 12-of-17 from the line, along with five rebounds, four assists and two steals. On the season, Perry averaged 13 points, six assists and two steals per game.
