Greenetrack gunman assaults security guard, patron before self-inflicted fatal shot

On Saturday, Feb. 6 at approximately 1:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Greenetrack in reference to gunshots being fired. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that one individual had been fatally shot and two other individuals had been injured.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the incident was captured by Greenetrack’s surveillance system. The suspect who was later identified as, Antoine James Robinson, 26, of Eutaw entered Greenetrack and attempted to bypass the metal detectors. At this time, Robinson was stopped by the security guard, Booker Vester, a retired Greene County Sheriff Deputy. Robinson and the security guard got into an altercation which quickly became physical. During this fight, Robinson pulled a gun on the security guard and was able to take the security guard’s gun.

Video images show that Robinson then began to beat the security guard in the head with a pistol and then fired the weapon into the floor near the security guard. Subsequently, Robinson exited Greenetrack and attempted to take a vehicle near the front entrance that was occupied by two occupants. Robinson then fired several shots into this vehicle in which the driver of the vehicle was shot.

The driver was able to return fire at Robinson, which prompted Robinson to run away from the area and into the parking lot of Greenetrack. While running across the parking lot, Robinson suffered what appeared to be a self-inflicted fatal gunshot wound. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause and manner of death. At this time, the driver of the vehicle and the security guard are still hospitalized but expected to make a full recovery.
