Mitchell Fox pretty well makes his presence known whenever he walks into a room. The Sumter Academy senior towers over most around him, commanding immediate attention with his stature.

Last Friday night against Jackson Academy, Fox commanded plenty of attention. Still, no matter how much Jackson tried, the Generals found little to no success in keeping Fox out of their backfield and off their quarterback.

Fox, whose total tackle number pushed 20 in the contest, recorded four sacks among his seven tackles for loss while manning his defensive end spot for the Eagles.

And while the performance itself was impressive, it could scarcely have come at a more opportune time for Sumter Academy, whose victory launched it back into the driver’s seat for the No. 2 seed in AISA Class A, Region 2.

Fox paid a visit to Batter Up Sports Grill in Demopolis Tuesday night where he was honored as Player of the Week by the ESPN 104.9 Coaches Show, which presented Fox a commemorative T-shirt for the occasion.
