In his first start at quarterback for Demopolis High School, Jamarcus Ezell ran through, around and over the Jackson Aggies to lead his team to a 28-21 road victory last week. Ezell finished the night with 23 carries for 217 yards and two touchdowns.

For his efforts, Ezell received ESPN 104.9 Player of the Week honors Tuesday when he was honored at Batter Up Sports Grill in Demopolis and spent time on the air with the Coaches Show crew.

The occasion marks the second time Ezell has earned such an honor with the first coming Sept. 2, 2013 when he won the distinction as the quarterback of Choctaw County High School. Ezell becomes the first player to win the honor with two separate schools.

Ezell’s current team is 4-1 and is set to host Sumter Central Friday night.
