Exercise helps promote mental, emotional health

Exercise helps more than just your physical well-being. Regular exercise makes you feel better mentally as well as physically. It helps reduce anxiety, helps you feel less jittery, and more energetic throughout the day. Exercise can boost your mood and help you feel more relaxed. It promotes better sleep. Yoga is a very relaxing form of exercise and great for stress reduction.

The American College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association recommend cardio exercise (walking, jogging, running, bicycling, etc) at a moderately intense rate for 30-60 minutes at least 5 days a week. In addition some type of strength or resistance training should be done three times a week, and stretching exercises should be done daily and always after each workout.

The Wellness Center has many options for your exercise enjoyment including Yoga classes, personal training, strength-training machines, dumbbells, resistance bands, weighted balls, bars, and Kettleballs, stability balls, stability trainers, balance board, Bosu, treadmills, ellipticals, stairclimber, NuSteps,  and our newest cardio machine, the Cybex Arc Trainer.
