DPD warns of counterfeit cash circulation

Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese would like to warn citizens and businesses of reports of counterfeit cash being circulated in the area recently. The DPD received multiple reports from businesses where the counterfeit currency was presented. All documents recovered had the same serial numbers and appeared to be U.S. Currency, but the bills were also marked “FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY.”

According to Reese, this type of counterfeit currency can be purchased as a novelty item on the internet.

“We’d like citizens and businesses to be on the lookout for this type of currency being passed, and should you notice it, contact your local law enforcement,” said Reese.
