DPD receives drug drop-box

The Demopolis Police Department has received a permanent drug drop box that will be housed in the lobby of Police Department to provide a safe method of disposing of unused prescription drugs. The drug drop-box can be used from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday except on holidays.

“The drop-box was awarded through a grant from CVS/pharmacy Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program. The Demopolis Police Department is encouraging citizens to use the drop-box for their unused and unwanted medications so they will never end up on the streets of Demopolis or Marengo County,” said DPD Chief Tommie Reese. “We strongly encourage citizens to take their unwanted medications to the drop-box and not flush their medication or throw them away. Disposing of medication properly prevents the medication from entering our waterways and landfills.”
