DMS Robotics has strong showing, headed to Southeast Regionals

DMS Robotics Team The Demopolis Middle School Robotics Team is headed to Auburn to compete in the Southeast Regional after a big day Saturday in competition at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa.

The team received first place for Most Photogenic Robot, Founders Award for Creative Design, Most Robust Robot and Best Project Engineering Notebook.

The team took second place in Best Web Page Design, Most Elegant Robot, Best Spirit and Sportsmanship and the B.E.S.T. Award for overall performance.

DMS was third in Best Team Exhibit and Interview and fourth in Robotics.

“A big thank you to our team mentors,” DMS robotics sponsor Ashley Brock said. “They have been awesome. They deserve so much credit for the hours and hours of time and energy they have dedicated to helping our students succeed.”

The Demopolis Middle School Robotics Team consists of Madelyn Brooker, Taylor Conley, Jordan Durrett, Walt Ezell, Santrena Fair, Sean Frankowski, Andy Hoggle, Rod Johnson, James Jones, Shaelin Jones, Malik Moore, Logan Principe, Ben Robertson, Jarvis Rowser, Jamaal Thurmond, Brian Tripp and Erin White.

The team’s company and group sponsors include Alabama Power, Demopolis City Schools Foundation, Georgia Pacific, the Sweet Water High School Robotic Team and the West Alabama Watchman.
