DMS football tops Sweet Water in opener

The Demopolis Middle School football team opened its season with a 20-6 victory over Sweet Water Thursday evening.

Logan McVay turned in an all-around performance to lead the Tigers, rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown on four carries while completing three of his five passes for 52 yards and catching a 50-yard scoring pass from Robert Tutt.

Jaqard Jackson turned in 23 yards on the ground for the Tigers and scored a defensive touchdown when he returned an interception 30 yards.

The Tigers play again Monday night when they travel to Thomasville.
