DMS football blanks Thomasville

The Demopolis Middle School football team impressed its coach Monday night when it dispatched Thomasville 36-0.

“This was a team win tonight,” DMS coach Jeremy Silcox said. “It seemed like we turned a corner, realizing that every guy was playing for the other. Tonight was the most unselfish these guys have played all year. They blocked and cheered for one another. I’m proud of these guys and these coaches.”

Myles Jones opened the scoring for the Tigers when he hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from R.J. Smith. Juan McClain stretched the lead with a 28-yard touchdown run.

Smith added to the advantage when he punched it in on a 3-yard quarterback sneak. After Aldraus Pruitt scored the fourth touchdown of the night, Kylon McCoy ran 57 yards before fumbling the ball into the end zone before Kyjun Rhone jumped on the loose ball for the touchdown.

“Tyler Gamble played hard, going down hill at linebacker,” Silcox said of the defensive effort. “Alton Rowser had two sacks and made tackles in their backfield the whole game.”

The Tigers return to play Thursday, Oct. 15 against Sweet Water.
