DHS student lost in morning wreck

Webb-5557Demopolis High School student William Cody Webb lost his life during a two-vehicle car accident on his way to school Friday morning.

The Forkland teenager was killed when he lost control of the 1996 Toyota Tacoma he was driving on a wet roadway and collided with a 2012 Volvo 18-wheeler.

According to an Alabama Department of Public Safety press release sent Friday by Sgt. Steve Jarrett, Webb was not wearing a seat belt. The crash occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. on U.S. 43 at the 140.2 mile marker, one mile north of Demopolis.

The truck driver, Marty Goodman, 52, of Gordo, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

No further information is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Fairhaven Baptist Church in Demopolis. The Demopolis High School football, soccer and track teams will be honorary pallbearers during the service.
