Demopolis superintendent monitoring winter weather

As of 7:22 p.m. Tuesday night, Demopolis City Schools are still set to meet at the regularly scheduled time Wednesday.

“All the national weather service models have us under the wintry mix line. We are not under a winter weather advisory,” Demopolis City Schools Superintendent Dr. Al Griffin said. “As of right now, I’m going to continue monitoring the weather and I’m going to continue to be in communication with EMA. Right now, we’re on for tomorrow.”

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley declared a state of emergency for Wednesday and school systems throughout northern and central Alabama have cancelled for precautionary measures.

Griffin indicated Demopolis will follow suit should there be a viable threat of inclement wintry weather or unsafe road conditions. Linden City Schools, Marengo County Schools and Marengo Academy are also currently set to meet at the regular times Wednesday.
