Demopolis Singers ready for spring concert

The Demopolis Singers will bring back favorite songs from popular movies at their spring concert Thursday, May 7.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. in the Old School Auditorium on Main Street.

“Music Makes the Movies” will include songs from cinema classics spanning the years from the 1930s to today. Such memorable tunes as “Over the Rainbow,” “As Time Goes By,” “Stand By Me,” “What a Wonderful World” and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” are just a few of the songs included.

Each of the singers will be dressed as a character from one of the movies. Directed by Ed Rush, they will be accompanied on piano by Janelle Baker, Deeya Fitzgerald on sax, Tim Hall, guitar, and Keith Owings, bass.

In addition, Beth Mason on violin; Lauren Goddard, cello, and Baker, will perform an instrumental of the popular song “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen.

Admission to the concert is free, but donations will be deeply appreciated.
