Demopolis man killed in Sumter crash

A single-vehicle crash at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, July 16, claimed the life of a Demopolis man. Elijah Nathan Davis, 28, was killed when the 2006 Ford F150 he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.

Davis, who was not using a seat belt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred on Alabama 17 near the 155 mile marker, approximately one mile south of Emelle. The preliminary investigation indicates that speed may have been a factor in the crash. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
