Demopolis High soccer goes unbeaten at Southern Shootout

The Demopolis High Soccer team opened its 2016 season with an unbeaten run through the Southern Shootout in Mobile. The Tigers opened play Friday with a 3-1 win over Spanish Fort in a contest that saw senior Cristian Velez score all three Demopolis goals.

The Tigers continued Friday play with a 4-3 win over Athens. UAB signee Adam Brooker scored a pair of goals for Demopolis while Clay McVay and Zachary Chu each added a score.

Saturday competition opened for the Tigers with a 4-1 win over Alma Bryant. Brooker and Velez each scored twice for the Tigers in the victory.

Demopolis wrapped play Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Bayside Academy. Velez scored his sixth goal of the tournament in the win while Smit Patel and Alex Maravilla each scored once.

The Tigers are set to travel to Daphne to face Bayside Academy Tuesday before going to Sipsey Valley Thursday.
