Demopolis golf on hot streak

The Demopolis High boys golf team continued its strong season over the last two weeks. The Tigers matched up with Sipsey Valley on the back nine of the Ol Colony Golf Course in Tuscaloosa Thursday, April 6.

Demopolis outpaced Sipsey by 23 strokes on the afternoon, turning in a team total of 192 as compared to Sipsey Valley’s 215. Luke Reid and Jackson Lay tied for the low round as each shot a 45. Austin Hall turned in a 49 while Bill Stephens had a 53. Jay Bell finished the day with a 55.

The Tigers returned home Tuesday, April 11 to play the front nine at the Demopolis Country Club in a tri-match with Sipsey Valley and Thomasville.

Thomasville finished the day with the high score of 232. Sipsey was second with a 203. Demopolis out-shot Sipsey by 40 strokes and Thomasville by 69 as the Tigers turned in a season low 163.

The banner day saw four Tiger golfers turn in their best rounds of the season. Hall led that group with a match low 37. Reid followed closely with a 38. Lay shot a 43 while Stephens finished with a 45. Bell turned in a 49 on the day.
