Demopolis falls to St. James in pitchers’ duel

Demopoils suffered its second consecutive loss Friday, falling 3-1 to a talented St. James squad at Paterson Field in Montgomery.

Brady Greene singled in T.R. Robertson to put St. James up 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Demopolis tied it in the top of the third when Chandler Barton singled to drive in Andrew Patterson.

St. James wasted no time regaining the lead as Robertson drove in Carson Howard on a single in the bottom of the third. St. James added another run later in the inning when Robertson scored on a fielder’s choice.

The Tigers managed only three hits and committed three errors in the contest. Singles from Barton, Hunter Colyar and Charles Casper accounted for the Tiger offense.

Hunter Colyar took the loss for the Tigers, striking out nine batters over six innings while scattering six hits. Greene anchored the effort for St. James with five strikeouts and three hits over six innings of work. Robertson struck out two in a perfect seventh for the save.

Demopolis (3-2) is set to play Saturday at 10 a.m. against Trinity Presbyterian at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
