Demopolis Elite soccer camp Saturday and Sunday

The Demopolis Elite Soccer program resumes activities Saturday with a camp for kids ages four through 18.

The event will be a joint venture between the Demopolis Elite staff and the head men’s and women’s coaches of the University of West Alabama soccer programs.

The $120 camp will take place at the Sports-Plex from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“Goal is to provide the most valuable experience possible using instruction and positive reinforcement in match-related game and situations regardless of which side of the ball the camper plays on,” UWA Women’s Coach Graeme Orr said of the focus of the event. “Create a satisfying atmosphere where we can foster soccer development in Demopolis.”

The camp is the follow-up to a series of spring camps that saw nearly two dozen participants show up to each session. “Response was great with averaging 22 players each session for an 8 week block. We had a great diverse group that were eager to learn the game,” Orr said.

Following the weekend camp, Demopolis Elite will set its sights on August when it will hold its next session.
