Demopolis eases by Greensboro for win No. 31

Demopolis did all of its damage in two innings Tuesday night in an 18-0 road victory over Greensboro.

Courtney Smith opened the game with a walk. Two batters later Abbey Latham stroked her 17th home run of the season for a 2-0 lead. Bria Brown later hit her first of three doubles in the game to plate Natalie Tatum for the 3-0 advantage. Lane Braeden Burbage grounded to plate Kendall Hannah. Alex Abrams then singled in Brown to move it to 5-0. Taylor Smith then singled home Burbage to make it 6-0.

Tatum started the 12-run rally in the second inning with a one-out single. Hannah reached on an error before Brown doubled in both runners for the 8-0 lead. Burbage followed with a two-run homer for the 10-0 lead. Abrams made it a back-to-back affair with a solo shot to move the lead to 11-0. Walks by the Smith sisters set up a two-run triple by Latham for the 13-0 lead. Tatum then singled in Latham to make it 14-0.

After a Hannah single, Brown doubled again to move the lead to 16-0. Burbage then doubled home Brown to make it 17-0. Burbage scored on a passed ball to cap the scoring.

Demopolis (31-8) next plays in the Northside Tournament Friday and Saturday.
