“We just fumbled,” Demopolis coach Stacy Luker said. “We put it on the ground four times, I think, and then we had an interception. You don’t beat a good football team turning it over five times and we got what we deserved.”

The Tigers forced a fumble on the opening kickoff and later opened the scoring when Marcus Wright returned an interception 42 yards for a score. Demopolis then launched an extensive drive that reached the Jackson 16 before Joshua Carpenter recovered a Tiger fumble. The Jackson offense marched 84 yards, allowing Michael Philips to score on a 2-yard run.

“We came up with a Pick-6, a couple of three-and-outs and we launch a great drive, a staple drive for us and just threw it on the ground. I think it was first down. We threw it on the ground on first down and then four more ensued after that,” Luker said. “We had five turnovers tonight.”

Jalem King put Jackson up to stay with 11:07 to go in the second quarter when he scooped and scored from 59 yards out.

Scottie Ridgeway then pounced on a Demopolis fumble to set up a quick strike to Kendarian Handy and give the Aggies a 28-13 halftime lead.
