Demopolis City Schools closed Friday

Demopolis City Schools will be closed Friday following an early morning decision on the part of the system’s administration. The school system announced Thursday that it would be closing at lunch before temperatures began plummeting faster than anticipated.

“The temperature dropped quicker than anticipated over night,” Demopolis City Schools Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff said. “We do not want to risk the safety of our students, parents, and employees later this morning. Extended month contract employees will need to report to work this morning to make sure campuses are secured and cleared.”

The school system will not have to make the day up at a  later time as Governor Robert Bentley declared a state of emergency effective at 7 a.m. Friday.
