Demopolis City Schools BOE makes personnel changes in called meeting

Three personnel transfers were made at a special called session of the Demopolis Board of Education Wednesday and another hiring was tabled.

Tracy Stewart and Braswell Braswell, both teachers at Westside Elementary School, have been transferred to U.S. Jones Elementary School. Brittany Dunson, now at USJ, is moving to Demopolis High School.

The decision on the new principal at WES was postponed until the next regular meeting of the board on May 23.

The Virtual School is another step closer with the approval of a contract with Fuel Education. The company will provide the on-line curriculum for the school system.

A total of $401,000 in paving work to be done in five phases was presented by Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff, and the board approved the first phase of $86,000.

The work will involve repaving the front entrances of Demopolis Middle School and USJ and paving the south side of WES at the first grade pickup site.

Kallhoff said the scope of the projects requires an architect’s specifications. He will be working with McKee and Associates so that bids on the work can go out and work completed by the end of July.

The board approved advertising for a pre-school/special education teacher position until the post is filled.
