Demopolis Chamber announces COTR pageants

The Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce and the Christmas on the River Committee are happy to announce the start of Christmas on the River 2014 with the Miss Christmas on the River Pageant. The pageant will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. located in the Demopolis Civic Center along the Tombigbee River. Christmas on the River is excited to have ABC 33/40 Chief Meteorologist James Spann as the Master of Ceremony for the pageant.

There are 100 reserved seats available for each pageant. They can be purchased for $10 in person at the Demopolis Area Chamber Commerce office starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 29. Admission at the door for pageants will be $5.

“All of the activities of Christmas on the River are exciting for Demopolis and the pageants are a great opening act. The activities create an influx of people to our city, allowing us to showcase our community to others,” said Michael Kennedy, Executive Director of the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce.

All of the pageants will take place at the Demopolis Civic Center. Tickets for each pageant will be $5 at the door. Below are the age groups, dates, and times for all pageants.

• Miss COTR, whose contestants are in ninth to 12th grade, will be Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
• Miss Jr. COTR, whose contestants are in sixth to eighth grade, will be Monday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
• Young Miss COTR, whose contestants are in third to fifth grade, will be Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
• Little Miss COTR, whose contestants are in Kindergarten to second grade, will be Wednesday, Odt. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
