Demopolis boys knock off Pickens County

REFORM — Demopolis (4-5) went on the road Monday to knock off perennial Class 1A power Pickens County 61-55.

“It was a good win to get us back on track,” Demopolis coach Rodney Jackson said. The victory stops a brief skid in which the Tigers dropped back-to-back games to close out last week.

The Tigers won ever quarter en route to the victory, taking a 27-25 lead into the locker room at halftime before earning a 14-11 advantage in the third quarter to set up a 21-18 run in the game’s final eight minutes.

Kiante Jefferies led Demopolis with 21 points, six rebounds and five assists. Roderick Davis had 14 points for the Tigers while Demetrius Kemp snagged 14 rebounds.

Demopolis is scheduled to play again Thursday when it hosts John Essex in the first round of the Demopolis High School Christmas Tournament. That game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. and will precede Linden against R.C. Hatch.
