Demopolis BOE personnel moves include Tutt resignation

In a short called meeting Monday morning, the Demopolis City Board of Education took care of several personnel matters.

Gina Johnston, federal programs and curriculum director, sat in as the appointed proxy superintendent for the meeting since Supt. Kyle Kallhoff’s wife, Kristina, was included among the personnel appointments.

The board accepted the resignation of Jill Tutt, Demopolis High School English teacher. Approved for conditional employment were Tammy Knott, K-5 instructional coach, effective Aug. 9, and Maj. Wendell Massey as JROTC Senior Instructor at DHS, effective Nov. 1 when he retires from military service. In the meantime, Massey was named substitute JROTC instructor Aug. 9 through Oct. 31.

Kristina Kallhoff was approved as a long-term substitute for Trena Reynolds while on family medical leave, Aug. 9 through Sept. 30.

The board also approved $3,000 in supplement pay for Jillian Arthur as interim band director.

Board members authorized the advertisement of an art teacher and an elementary special education position.

Kallhoff scheduled an hour-long work session on Aug. 2 at 5 p.m. to discuss the system’s strategic plan. It will be followed by a called meeting to handle further personnel appointments.
