Demopolis BOE addresses cheerleader situation

The Demopolis City Board of Education, by and through a newly formed Cheerleading Committee met Monday morning in response to several issues with the recent football and basketball cheerleading tryouts at Demopolis High School.

“As the result of a lengthy, open and positive discussion from all on the committee, numerous possible solutions were considered,” DCS Superintendent of Education Dr. Al Griffin said via a release Monday. “After careful thought, consideration and a vote of all members, it has been decided that an additional cheerleader will be added to this year’s football cheerleader squad, and the basketball cheerleader squad tryouts will continue on this year as they were advertised.”
