Demopolis baseball moves to 2-0 in area play
Demopolis (8-4, 2-0) grabbed its first area wins of the season Monday as it shut out Wilcox Central in a pair of games.
The Tigers scored six runs in the third inning to anchor a 13-0 win over the Wilcox in the first game. Hunter Colyar struck out thirteen batters in the no-hit effort.
Luke Yelverton highlighted the offense with his first home run of the year, going 1-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored.
Jonathan Lewis scored three runs out of the leadoff spot. Wesley Holemon went 1-for-1 with one RBI and a run scored.
Colyar was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Jay Craig, Jamarcus Ezell, Demetrious Davis and Harrison Wood each scored a run. R.J. Cox went 1-for-2 while Jacob Rodrigues was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Chandler Barton, Ezell and Lewis each stole two bases while Davis and Wood stole one apiece.
In the final game of the day, Ryan Morrison recorded a no-hit effort on the mound while striking out four in a 23-0 win.
Lewis went 3-for-3 with one RBI and four runs scored. Colyar was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Craig finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Cox went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Rodrigues finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored.
Morrison was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Wood scored two runs.
Yelverton went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored. Barton finished 1-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Ezell ended his day 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Rodrigues doubled twice in the game while Barton, Ezell, Colyar, Lewis and Cox each doubled one.
