Davis earns Player of the Week

DeDe Davis, Demopolis head coach Brian Seymore, and ESPN1049’s Sean Parker

The game certainly did not turn out the way Demopolis would have liked in a 29-18 loss to rival Thomasville to open the 2017 season. Still, a rare 100-yard receiving game from a Demopolis player merited the proverbial tip of the cap.

Davis, who has specialized as a defensive back throughout his varsity career, showed up and showed out as a slot receiver Friday night. The favorite target of Demopolis quarterback Andrew Patterson, Davis hauled in nine passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in the effort.

Demopolis will look to get off the deck Friday night against Greensboro. Davis will look to build on his early returns.

For his part, the Tiger senior earned ESPN1049 Player of the Week honors. Davis received a commemorative T-shirt Friday night and joined the network’s Coaches Show on air during its weekly live broadcast from Batter Up in Demopolis.
