Cuba Police help DPD apprehend two for Walmart thefts

image2 image1On Oct. 26, the Demopolis Police Department received a call from the Walmart Super Center Loss Prevention Officer who reported that two females entered Walmart and loaded a large amount of retail items into a cart, leaving the store without paying for the merchandise.

Upon arrival of the officers, Walmart management provided the suspects’ description, vehicle information and direction of travel.  This information was then provided to surrounding agencies. With the assistance of the Cuba Police Department, the suspects were taken into custody.

The suspects were identified as Detra Mona Watts, 30 of Meridian Miss., and Conchita Lashell Ott, 41 of Meridian. Officers recovered the stolen property valued over $1,000 and placed the two suspects under arrest for Theft of Property Second Degree.
At the time of their arrest both suspects were also wanted in other jurisdictions on unrelated crimes. They are currently awaiting bond in the Marengo County Detention Center.
