Cox baffles Bulldogs in Demopolis win

R.J. Cox put together a complete game gem Tuesday, propelling Demopolis (8-5) to an 8-0 win over intra-county rival Sweet Water.

Pitching away from the friendly confines of his home field, Cox scattered three hits over seven innings of shutout work while striking out six batters and issuing no walks.

The Tigers scored four runs in the second inning and three in the third before tacking on one more in the fifth.

Ryan Schroeder went 1-for-4 in the game with two RBIs. Jamarcus Ezell had one RBI. Cox was 1-for-4. Jacob Rodrigues scored a run.

Wil Stephens went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Jay Craig scored a pair of runs while Tripp Perry went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Seth Aiken scored a pair of runs while Hunter Colyar drove in a run.

The top of the Sweet Water order accounted for all of the Bulldog offense. Paul Weatherly went 1-for-3 while Cole Morgan went 2-for-3 with a double.

The Tigers are set to wrap up area play Wednesday when they host a double-header against Wilcox Central.
