Citizens’ Police Academy currently accepting applications

The Demopolis Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) Class 2015-2 will being on Sept. 29 at 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending may pick up an application from Demopolis Police Headquarters at 301 East Washington Street or the substation at 521 U.S. Hwy 80 East.

Potential candidates for CPA must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum age of 21
  • Live or work within the jurisdiction of the City of Demopolis
  • No prior felony convictions
  • No assault, domestic violence, or weapons convictions
  • No misdemeanor arrests within five years of application
  • Final selection will be made by the Chief of Police, who may waive any of the requirements on a case by case basis

This is a great opportunity for citizens to learn what goes on behind the badge.

Deadline for applications is Sept. 22.
