Jesse Lee Etheredge, Jr. age 58 of Linden, AL died October 4, 2017, at DCH Regional Medical Center. He was born June 24, 1959, in Demopolis, AL to Jesse Lee and Eva Etheredge. He was a former lineman with Alabama Power and Pike Power and a member of Providence Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Taft of Linden, AL; daughter, Jessica Etheredge Wingate of Linden, AL; three stepchildren, Brandy Taft of Demopolis, AL; Neal Taft of Demopolis, AL; and Julia Lyons of Boligee, AL; two sisters, Patsy Etheredge Cullum of Linden, AL; and Peggy Etheredge Averette of Linden, AL; one grandchild, Sophia Leigh Wingate; and four step-grandchildren, Christian Todd, Billy Taft, Trinity Taft, and Cameron Robertson.

Visitation will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, October 6, 2017, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 2:00 pm with Dr. Billy Harris officiating. Burial will be in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Gallion, AL.

Alice Lee McConnell Parten

Alice Lee McConnell Parten age 74 of Mobile, AL died October 3, 2017, at her home. She was born January 18, 1943, in Cambridge, MA. She was a former nurse with The Thomasville Nursing Home and a member of Woodridge Baptist Church in Mobile, AL.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Parten Lowery of Uriah, AL; and Marty Parten Lynn of Thomasville, AL; two sons, Billy Parten, Jr. of Pascagoula, MS; and Doug Parten of Mobile, AL; two sisters, Shelia McConnell Anderson of Perry’s Chapel, AL; and Rebecca McConnell Cotton of Walker Springs, AL; and brother, Billy McConnell of Whatley, AL; twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert H. McConnell, her grandmother who raised her, Rebecca Gwynn McConnell, a brother, Robert H. McConnell, Jr., a sister, Dorthea Cornell, her daughter, Leigh Parten McKinley, and a grandson, Tony Ballinger.

Visitation will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, October 5, 2017, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, October 6, 2017, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Garry Harrod officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Pine Hill, AL.

Delano “Scott” Walker age 84 of Dickinson, AL died October 2, 2017, at Mobile Infirmary. He was born October 19, 1932, in Chance, AL to Straughter and Rosie Ann Walker. He was a retired paper woodworker.

He is survived by his five children, Shelia Bender, Hamilton Bender, Levi Bender, Jason Williams, and Grace Williams; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charles Christopher ‘Chuck’ Collums

Charles Christopher “Chuck” Collums, age 52, won his battle and went to be with his Savior, on September 30, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Chuck was born on July 8, 1965, in Tupelo to Charles and Angelyn Collums. He was a lifelong resident of Marion and he lived to provide for his family. Nothing was more important to him than his family. Chuck was a hard working selfless man who would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Carnice & Nona Mae Collums and Arvid & Frances Cox. He is survived by his parents Charles & Angelyn Collums of Marion; devoted wife Sally Washburn Collums; children Christopher Collums, Sarabeth Ann Collums, Hunter Clements and Cory Clements; siblings Randy Collums (Melinda) of Centreville and Tammy Hood (Brian) of Marion; nieces & nephews Kendal, Delaine & Nolan Hood; Jesse & Colby Collums; Summer Curtis Smith and Chasity Curtis; great-niece Lynnden Smith and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at 2 pm at Siloam Baptist Church in Marion, Alabama. Rev. Nicholson will be officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel will be directing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens. Trilbie Louise McClendon

Trilbie Louise McClendon 92, of Marion, passed away September 28, 2017, at Southland Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Marion Cemetery with Billy Moore and Len Hurston officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Trilbie was born December 17, 1924, in St. Clair County to Jabe and Valor Deweese Sharpton.

She was preceded by her husband, Julius David McClendon; sisters, Opal Dockery, Nanny George, Verlie Barron and Faye Gibson; brother, V.C. Sharpton.

Survivors are her daughters, June Moore (Jerry) and Paula Boyle (Don); sons, Phillip Dale McClendon (Sandy) and Timmie McClendon (Beth);9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Moore, Mark Moore, Jonathon McClendon, Lance McClendon, Coleman McClendon and Don Boyle.

Josie Gay Phillips Kelley age 73 a homemaker of Sweet Water, AL died September 28, 2017, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was a graduate of the University of North Alabama, and served in the US Army, as 1st Lieutenant in the WAC. She attended Aimwell Baptist Church in Sweet Water, AL.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Paulette Debow, Paul A. Kelley, Mike W. Kelley, Christy Moore, Teressa Kelley, Debbie Kelley, and Scott Kelley; two sisters, Ruth Phillips and Valerie Morgan: sister-in-law, Karen M. Phillips, many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Kelley, her parents, Asa Abner and Myrtle Phillips, stepdaughter, Ann Richardson, and two brothers, Jim Phillips and John Phillips.

Visitation will be held at Aimwell Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 pm service time with Rev. Don White officiating. Burial will be in the Aimwell Baptist Church Cemetery.
