Carnival kicks off weekend of celebration in Linden

Thursday night kicks off a weekend full of events in Linden, as a carnival opens to the public at 5 p.m. and continues through the weekend.

Other events planned for the weekend are the first Linden Art Walk to be held Friday, June 28. The event is part of the College of Liberal Arts Living Democracy program at Auburn University. Artwork will be displayed inside businesses along the main street of Linden, including some pieces of art that will be for sale.

A chalk art competition will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday. Chalk will be provided, and there will be a small monetary reward to the first, second and third place winners. Student art will also be displayed on windows of storefronts along the street.

Other events Saturday include a Farmer’s Market from 9-2, gospel singing from 10-1 and a Fourth of July parade at 10:30 a.m.
