Burglary/Theft Suspect Arrested

On 07-07-2013, during the early morning hours the Demopolis Police Department responded to the Family Dollar Store located at 304 East Jackson Street that had been burglarized. Officers noted that a large amount of cigarettes were stolen. On the same morning an additional report of theft was reported at the Pure Station on US Hwy 43 South, involving a bottle of wine.

MurdockInformation gathered during the investigation resulted in the arrest of Robert Maurice Murdock, age 42 of Gallion on charges involving with both incidents. Murdock is presently in the Marengo County Detention Center charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, Theft of Property in the Third Degree and Burglary in the Third Degree.

Demopolis Chief of Police Tommie Reese said he was very proud of the way his Patrol Officers and Criminal Investigators handle these cases and for making an arrest so quickly.
