BOE makes personnel moves in called meeting Thursday

In a called meeting Thursday, the Demopolis City Schools board took care of personnel matters and approved the purchase of a new school bus.

The 72-passenger vehicle, being purchased from Transportation South at a cost of $90,186, is the first new bus being purchased by the school system in many years.

The board approved the temporary employment of Jessica Dial to train the new Central Office administrative assistant and help with state monitoring. She will work for 20 hours a week through the end of January.

DHS senior Christian Jones will be a co-op student hired as a technician support to work with the system’s IT staff through the end of the school year

In other personnel matters, the board approved:

  • The resignation of Victoria Loper, U.S. Jones teacher.
  • Conditional employment for Kayla Sommers and Ashley Johnigan-Harrison, both at USJ.
  • Kimberly Gray as a softball volunteer; Kole Thrasher, long-term sub for P.E. at DHS; Tammi Western-Scott approved medical leave of absence, and Sheila Curry as sub for Western-Scott.
  • Ashli Nance with a sub-license.

Supt. Kyle Kallhoff reported the six buses owned by the school system were inspected Oct. 4, and no deficiencies were found.

The next regularly scheduled meeting has been moved to Monday, Nov. 26.
