Auburn University student seeks veterans to participate in summer project

Auburn University student and Living Democracy Fellow Hamilton Wasnick will be partnering with the local community to collect stories of local veterans this summer.

The stories Wasnick gathers through interviews with veterans will be sent to the Library of Congress. For more Information on these projects or participation, please contact Wasnick at 918-852-1584 or htw0005@auburn.edu.

Wasnick is a rising sophomore studying history at Auburn University.  Wasnick grew up in Seattle, Wash., and raised by James and Heather Wasnick.

While he attended Skyline High School in Sammamish, Wash., Wasnick spent time volunteering with the Veteran’s Administration in Seattle and developed a passion for giving back to servicemen and women in a multitude of ways.  Wasnick said he learned that getting to know veterans provides the opportunity for a greater understanding of service.

Wasnick, who arrived in Linden May 9, will be working in the community for 10 weeks.

Living Democracy is a program of Auburn University’s College of Liberal Arts and the David Mathews Center for Civic Life. Participating students serve as Jean O’Connor Snyder Interns with the Mathews Center.
