ASWA names Stenz AISA Coach of the Year

Marengo County proved well represented on the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State Basketball teams released Sunday morning.

The AISA Girls team saw Marengo Academy’s Danny Stenz earn the ASWA Coach of the Year distinction. Stenz also earned the Watchman Coach of the Year honor Monday.

His daughter, Chandler Stenz, garnered ASWA attention as she placed on the AISA Girls Second Team. The junior point guard helped lead the Lady Longhorns to a 25-3 season. She received the Watchman Girls Basketball Player of the Year honor last week.

The City of Linden continued to be recognized in the Class 1A boys ranks as LHS junior Imoras Agee and senior Shauka Reese each gained Second Team distinction. Agee, the Watchman Boys Basketball Player of the Year, averaged 23 points per game this season to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and three steals a night. Reese, a First Team All-County selection for the Watchman, averaged 21 points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds a game for the Patriots this season.
