Annie Bryant

Annie Marie Speed Bryant, 77, of Demopolis passed away June 18, 2015 at Marengo Nursing Home in Linden. Mrs. Bryant was born Feb. 11, 1938 in Demopolis to the late Morris C. and Martha Jane Rushing Speed. Mrs. Bryant was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Demopolis. She was also a 47 year cancer SURVIVOR. What a beautiful life. She is preceded by her husband of 55 years, Herbert L. Bryant; brothers Leslie ” Shag” Speed, Morris C. Speed, Jr., and her brother, Wilbur, who was a toddler; sisters: Martha Frances Burnette, Alliene Yeager Griffith, Dolly Ward, and Justina Gross Booker. She is survived by her daughters: Debra L. Haisty (John) of Demopolis and Lea Cameron (Hugh) of Demopolis; one son, Cary “Bubba” Bryant (Teresa) of Demopolis. A sister, Cecile Chiles of Demopolis and a brother Fred Speed (Joanne) of Arkansas; grandchildren Bryan Cannon of Utah, Mary Haisty Axtell and Christen Haisty of Idaho, John Haisty, Jr., Caty Cameron, Brooke Bryant, all of Tuscaloosa, Sonny Cameron of Demopolis, Brittany Byrant of Demopolis and Blake Bryant of Demopolis; great-grandchildren Jerrica Cannon, Christopher Cannon, Trey Axtell, Jase Axtell, Sophia B. Cameron, Rebecca Marie Cannon. Funeral service will be held June 23, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Demopolis, Alabama at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Williams will be officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time. Burial will follow at Demopolis Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Bryan Cannon, John Haisty, Jr., Caty Cameron, Brooke Bryant, Sonny Cameron, Brittany Bryant and Blake Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be the beloved and faithful caregivers from Southern Oaks, Southern Care Hospice, especially Libby Hughes and Tara Sealy, the staff at Marengo Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
