ALJ shuts out struggling Essex

THOMASTON – A.L. Johnson downed John Essex 28-0 Friday night for a Homecoming win.
Castillo Huggins, Lawrence Burrell, Willie Moore and Michael Croom each scored a touchdown for the Eagles while Lewis Anderson and Jeremy Mitchell scored two-point conversions.
The game lasted only six minutes in the second half as the Hornets had only 10 healthy players remaining. Essex entered the contest with 11 players on the team but lost one due to injiry in the first quarter. The teams agreed to limit the final two quarters of the game to three minutes each in the second half.
The game marked the first as a head coach for Brad Daniels, the Essex assistant tasked with finishing out the season for the Hornets in the wake of former head coach Jerome Antone’s resignation earlier this week.
