A winter weather message from the Demopolis Police Department

The Demopolis Police Department wants to encourage all drivers on our roadways and streets to use all available information when making winter travel plans; even the latest, most accurate information is not a substitute for good judgment. If weather conditions appear to be too severe to travel, they most likely are. If you don’t have to be out in this weather, please stay home and enjoy your day off.

Remember: Active winter weather and hazardous traveling conditions also create the greatest demand for police, fire, EMS services and E-911 dispatchers.

Please do not tie up telephone lines and dispatch personnel by calling requesting weather or travel information as there may be a true emergency going on. Someone’s life may depend on the seconds wasted answering these types of calls.
