After going nearly the entire season without a Player of the Week honoree, the A.L. Johnson Eagles closed out the regular season with a pair of award winners.

Two weeks ago, Leo Baker hauled in nine passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns in a key region win over Ellwood Christian. He also picked off two passes on the defensive side.

A week later, Desmond Mair proved invaluable in a come-from-behind win over Class 3A Greene County. Mair paced the Eagles with 202 yards on the ground to go along with three touchdowns on just nine carries. He, too, did standout defensive work with a sack and a fumble recovery.

Both players received a commemorative T-shirt from the ESPN 104.9 Coaches Show crew and enjoyed dinner at Batter Up during the weekly show.
