A.L. Johnson beats Ellwood to clinch No. 3 seed

SELMA — A.L. Johnson locked up the No. 3 seed out of Class 1A, Region 4 Thursday with a 32-18 win over Ellwood Christian.

The Eagles saw quarterback Edward London go 8 of 13 through the air for 124 yards and two touchdown. His favorite target on the night was Leo Baker, who hauled in nine passes for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Baker did work on the defensive side as well, picking off two Ellwood passes.

Desmond Mair paced the Eagle ground game with 111 yards on 14 carries. Johnney Robinson scored a rushing touchdown for ALJ while Lonnie Henton returned a kick 55 yards for a score.

Jeremiah Smith led the defense with 11 tackles while Terry Herrelle had four sacks on the night.

ALJ (2-6, 2-2) closes regular season play next Thursday at Greene County.
