Barkley sworn in as revenue commissioner

Sharon B. Barkley was sworn in by Circuit Judge Eddie Hardaway, Jr. to begin her first full term as Marengo County revenue commissioner.  Though elected in Nov. 2014, Barkley’s term does not begin until the following fiscal year, FY 2015, which starts Oct. 1.  Her term will last six years.

Barkley was appointed revenue commissioner in Sept. 2012 by Governor Robert Bentley following the retirement of William J. “Bo” McAlpine.  She worked in the office for seven years before receiving the appointment, and has been revenue commissioner for the last three years.
