Charles Randall East

Charles Randall East age 58 of Thomasville, AL., died August 12, 2015 at his home. He was born June 10, 1958 in Phenix City, AL. He was a USDA NRCS Agricultural Engineer. He was a member of Pineview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a R.A. Leader. He served as Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 51, Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 76, and on The Thomasville Sports Hall of Fame Committee. He was the 2003 Thomasville Citizen of the Year. He was a city league coach for soccer, baseball & basketball and was a supporter of the Thomasville Winter Baseball Clinic and Co-founder of the County Kingdom Builders.

Randall served 20 years in the Alabama Army National Guard in Winfield, AL. He served as Commander 877th Engineering Battalion (combat) (heavy) Rear Detachment. He served as Staff Civil Engineer in the S-3 Section of the 1169th Engineer Group in Huntsville of Alabama Army National Guard. He was Captain and former Commander of Company C, 87th Engineering Battalion (combat) (heavy) in Fayette, AL. He was a former member of the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps and Seabees. He has served in Panama, Dominican Republic, and Egypt in various assignments. He has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and Navy Achievement Medal and other numerous decorations.

He was active in promoting his chosen field and has served as area representative, secretary, and president of the Alabama Section of the Soil and Water Society. He has received numerous awards for his work in Natural Resources Conservation including recently being honored with an Outstanding Service Award for the Alabama Soil and Water Conservation Society.

Randall has been on several mission trips with the Washington County Baptist Association building churches in Breckenridge, Colorado, Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Rapid City, South Dakota. He has also been to Winfield, TN twice with Pineview Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held at Pineview Baptist Church on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 1:00 pm until the 3:00 pm service time with Rev. Mitch Thrower officiating. Burial will be in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Arlington, AL

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pineview Baptist Church Missions or Building Fund, 182 Moore Street, Thomasville, AL 36784, Boy Scout Troop 76, or The Thomasville Sports Hall of Fame, Attention: Chairman, PO Box 1364, Thomasville, AL 36784.
